Nice: Amadeus and Akamai, partners in developing internet services

Amadeus, with its development site based in Nice, has signed a global partnership agreement with Akamai intended to transform company wide web-based services.

Amadeus, one of the world leaders in providing solutions to the travel industry for managing the distribution and sale of travel services, has announced that it has signed a global partnership agreement with Akamai, the leading cloud platform offering a high-performance secure experience on any device, anywhere.

This partnership will help improve the performance of all web-based services and applications used by Amadeus and its customers, including airline e-Commerce websites and Amadeus’ own suite of booking tools.

Under the terms of the agreement, Amadeus' customers across all segments will be able to take advantage of the benefits of the Akamai Intelligent Platform, which optimises connection, protocol and applications for the Internet in order to deliver content and applications more quickly, reliably, and securely.

"Improved responsiveness across all of our web-based applications and services at Amadeus essentially means increased revenues for our customers", commented Denis Lacroix, Vice President of Product Development, Sales and e-Commerce Platforms, Amadeus. "By combining the globally-distributed Akamai Intelligent Platform with our own leading technology platforms, applications and solutions, customers can ensure the data their own customers are accessing is located closer to them, which drastically improves response times and the overall user experience".

"For global companies such as Amadeus, the cloud is fast becoming the application delivery channel of choice for both business to consumer and business to business services," explained Willie M. Tejada, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Enterprise Cloud Division, Akamai.  "Our solutions are designed to provide an exemplary end user experience independent of device or location.    This is critical to overall service adoption and ultimate customer satisfaction".

They chose the Côte d'Azur

"Sophia-Antipolis is a very attractive region for any semiconductor company, for several reasons. The first one is that in the technology park of Sophia-Antipolis there is a solid tradition of analog and digital design, which is due to the presence of other big companies working in the same or similar markets, like Texas Instruments, Intel, STM and others. The second reason is linked to presence in the technology park of the Polytech'Nice-Sophia and other important schools.

That will guarantee our future growth since the region will always offer both experienced design engineers and you talents to hire."
