Nice, Focusing on new eco-friendly urban planning EcoCité du futur….
An area West of Nice has just been given the EcoCité label by the French government, which was given to only 13 sites in the country.
A new concept of urban planning, offering the best in terms of ecologic, economic and social performances…. Those are the high stakes set by the new EcoCité label put in place by the French government and which was just attributed to a Côte d’Azur area situated West of Nice, in the riverbed ot the Var. This zone, where a first eco-district, Nice Meridia, is currently under construction, is part of the large scale EcoVallée project which, as an Operation of National Interest, constitutes France’s foremost eco-friendly land development initiative.
The EcoCité label implies the choice of renewable energy solutions for its constructions built along the HQE (Hautre Qualité Envrionnementale) norms. But beyond that, a global approach must be adopted that guarantees the respect of the environment: green transport systems with tramways and bike paths, protection of the area’s water resources and green corridors to maintain local flora and fauna.
