At the international innovative city convention on smart and sustainable cities which is to take place on June 6–7 in Nice, the representatives of Energies and Information and Communication Technologies (TICs) clusters signifies a convention formalizing the constitution of a national group aimed at developing the SMART GRIDS chain.

The competitiveness clusters in the energy and TIC domains have facilitated the emergence of projects covering the whole concept of intelligent networks (SMART GRIDS), from the secured conduct of the electric networks, to the optimization of the different loads connected (equipment, buildings, neighbourhoods…), to better manage the power detecting unit and lower power consumption.

At the same time, the lower cost of sensors, the gradual introduction of TICs in the urban environment (transport, travel, environment, fluid management, etc.) has extended the concept to the intelligent city concept (SMART CITY).

On these SMART GRIDS and SMART CITY concepts, the competitiveness clusters Advancity, Alsace Energivie, Capenergies, Derbi, Minalogic, SCS, S2E2, Systematic, Tenerrdis have decided to strengthen their cooperation by advancing their skills, the diversity of their territories, by searching for pooling possibilities for their means and resources.

In the light of these facts, these 9 clusters wish to define a concept together which responds to the following objectives:

- Share a strategic innovative vision concerning SMART GRIDS and SMART CITIES by associating the organisations that can fuel this reflection (DGCIS, CGDD, DGEC, ADEME, ANR, OSEO, European structures, etc.);

- Position each cluster according to this strategic vision and identify the leader clusters on the different themes.

- Define the coordinated actions of innovation and promotion at both a national and international level.

This grouping, which makes a European first, carries the vision and reflections of clusters, territory actors, on the future energy networks and on energy management.

They chose the Côte d'Azur

"Sophia-Antipolis is a very attractive region for any semiconductor company, for several reasons. The first one is that in the technology park of Sophia-Antipolis there is a solid tradition of analog and digital design, which is due to the presence of other big companies working in the same or similar markets, like Texas Instruments, Intel, STM and others. The second reason is linked to presence in the technology park of the Polytech'Nice-Sophia and other important schools.

That will guarantee our future growth since the region will always offer both experienced design engineers and you talents to hire."
