A Unique Collaboration Enhancing the Traveler Experience
This is a first in France. Since early December, ProovStation has been offering a shared inspection solution for all rental agencies at the Car Rental Center (CRC) of Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, encompassing six companies (Avis Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Enterprise, Goldcar, and Sixt).
The 60,000 m² site, a pioneer in shared facilities for rental companies, handles over 370,000 contracts annually, with activity peaking during the summer months with hundreds of daily rentals.
The Lyon-based scale-up was selected following a tender process on behalf of the rental companies and Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, the project sponsor.
“This groundbreaking initiative aims to revolutionize the experience for travelers renting a vehicle at Nice Airport while optimizing operations for the six rental companies on-site,” explains Arnaud LESCUT, Head of Commercial Operations at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport.
Process Optimization: Efficiency, Transparency, Productivity
In practical terms, four next-generation automated gantries have been deployed (three are already operational, with the fourth to be installed by mid-December): three located at the exit record the vehicle’s condition at departure, while a fourth scans their condition upon return.
Strategically positioned, these gantries ensure seamless management of vehicle flow while providing optimal transparency and security for travelers through a double-check process. Travelers benefit from a quick scan in just seconds, offering an objective and comprehensive assessment of their car’s condition. Based on the license plate, the vehicle-specific information is then transferred to the corresponding rental company.
“It’s a win-win: the installation of ProovStation gantries addresses common customer concerns and helps rental companies improve their check-out and return processes,” adds Arnaud LESCUT.
In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the gantries include an automatic window-blurring feature to prevent identification of drivers and passengers.
Nice Côte d’Azur Airport x ProovStation: A New Benchmark in the Mobility Sector
This deployment at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport marks a major milestone in ProovStation’s development, both in scale and novelty: providing multiple rental service providers with shared access to its technology. The Nice model is expected to serve as a precedent and reference for other airport infrastructures in France and Europe, seeking solutions to enhance and redefine customer experience while boosting profitability and innovation in the new mobility sector.
