Vulog meets Google, Tesla and GM on the connected car market

Vulog, the Nice-based start-up specialising in car sharing, was selected alongside eight other candidates to take part in the first UbiMobility event, an acceleration programme dedicated to the connected car launched by Bpifrance and Business France.

UbiMobility in the United States

UbiMobility’s objective is to enable start-ups, VSEs and SMEs, to present their innovative technological solutions for connected cars and talk with U.S. automotive industry professionals.
Business meetings with major corporations including Google Car, Tesla and General Motors, are planned during this three-week immersion to the United States which includes visits to Chicago and San Francisco. The participants will be based in the small town of Ann Arbor (a district of Detroit), the birthplace of the American car industry and the Safety Pilot experimental area, a 22 million-dollar project run by the University of Michigan, which aims to improve transport safety using smart onboard data-logging devices that track the vehicle’s position and speed in relation to surrounding vehicles.

The intelligent car is a growing business sector providing innovative solutions in terms of communication and services. A recent report by Gartner Inc. predicts that by 2020 approximately 150 million vehicles will be connected by Wi-Fi and between 60% and 75% of them will be able to consume, create and share digital data.

With this programme, eight of French Tech’s leading lights, already recognised nationally and within Europe, can position themselves on the American smart car market and have their cutting-edge technologies referenced by local manufacturers.

About VULOG

Founded in 2006 by Georges Gallais, Vulog is the European leader in car sharing technologies. The start-up was accommodated within the Métropole Nice Cote d’Azur EC BIC before joining the Allianz start-up Accelerator in 2015.

VULOG develops and markets its own car sharing technology, free floating, which enables mobility operators to set up all types of car sharing, both in the city (to reduce traffic-related pollution and provide new transport services for citizens), and in businesses (to streamline company car fleets and offer new mobility services for employees).

The company equipped the Auto Bleue fleet of the Métropole Nice Cote d’Azur’s car sharing scheme and designed the PSA Peugeot Citroën vehicle sharing system for the TF1 television channel.
