Sophia Antipolis: a global leader in secure contactless technology solutions for the Transport and Identity sectors, Ask has been selected by the RATP and SNCF to supply, over the next three-year period, card readers enabling users to recharge Navigo passes from the comfort of their homes.
Navigo passes are used by over 4 million passengers in Paris and the Ile-de-France region using the bus, subway, train, or Velib bike share services. The RATP and SNCF distribute a USB reader that allows Navigo pass users to renew their monthly or weekly subscriptions on-line from their own computer – thus avoiding queues at SNCF and RATP points of sale.
Patrick Sure, Director of the Contactless Solutions Division comments: « We are happy to have been selected by the RATP and SNCF to supply this new solution which aims to simplify the usage of Navigo passes for all users of the public transportation network throughout the Île-de-France, as we already did in the city of Reims. The Navigo reader connects the Internet and the contactless technology of the Navigo pass. With this new multi-year contract, we are further developing a trust relationship of more than 15 years with the RATP and SNCF. This relationship started with the first generations of dual contact/contactless cards which stand at the origin of today’s subscription cards. »
