LifeScientis chooses Côte d’Azur for Biotech R&D center

LifeScientis, Biotech activity center of Teclis group, settled on the Côte d’Azur in 2016. Team Côte d’Azur facilitated their integration into the local Health ecosystem. Franck Chuzel, founder of LifeScientis, explains why this investment on the Côte d’Azur is a strategic one for his company.

What does LifeScientis do ?

LifeScientis Biotechnologies, is the activity center dedicated to the Life Sciences research of Teclis Scientific group. The global objective of LifeScientis Biotechnologies is to support academic and industrial researches to find solutions for better compounds design and better delivery for better care. LifeScientis Biotechnologies propose a very specific and innovative approach, by mixing expertise in different fields from interfacial physics, to biology, chemistry and nanotechnologies. The R&D activities are all related to the study of active agent behaviors at physiological interfaces to nanostructure carriers’ development thanks to non-organic synthesis and functionalization. Today, the company consists of four people.

Why choose the Côte d’Azur ?

The company was established in late 2015 in Mouans Sartoux, close to Sophia Antipolis science park. In addition to its well-known environment and its close proximity to an international airport, Sophia Antipolis, and more broadly the Côte d’Azur region, is also engaged in a significant economic transformation with its universities, research centers and a rich SME landscape.  As biotechnology industries are a knowledge economy based, we have been interested by this region which has created a dynamic and attractive ecosystem for the development of R&D in such field.

What support do you get from Team Côte d’Azur ?

We received a warm, dedicated, personalized and efficient support from team Cote d’Azur. The support was either on where to locate offices and  laboratory, to findind the good contact in the economic community or to help us to network and facilitate contacts with professional in our field of interests. Some meetings were organized by and with a Team Côte d’Azur representative, which was a unique opportunity to meet key actors and to accelerate our business. Some partnerships will be signed in the next future thanks to this effort and involvement.

What are the development prospects of LifeScientis ?

In 2016, our objective is to consolidate the merger of our activités with Teclis’, complete the LifeScientis Biotechnologies office implantation in Grasse (part of the InnovaGrasse incubator) and develop strong partnerships and activities with regional industries.
