François Conesa, Soladis
“Team Côte d’Azur was key to our decision to locate in Sophia Antipolis, helping us to understand the region, prepare our set-up, assess the relevance of our offer and develop our communication as well as access a network of valuable partners”.
The Lyon-based company Soladis set up a unit of bio-statisticians and statisticians in Sophia Antipolis serving the fields of health, fine chemistry and new technologies.
Hubert Terrier, CEO of Pearl Partner
Team Côte d’Azur has immediately been very good. Exchanges with Christophe Perez and his team have given the information and advice I needed to make my first strategic choices here.
It also allowed me to meet many economic players in the region, who can quickly turn into partners or customers. This is essential when starting a business in an environment that is not well known.
It is through these bases that we were able to grow locally, until we were bought out by one of our big competitors in mid 2015. I then accompanied the integration of this consulting company in the new group until December of 2015, after which I sold my shares. It is on this basis that I created Pearl Partner in early 2016, linking me to the professional business centers sector and investing in office property.

For us, we didn’t even consider having our company somewhere else. We benefit from a dynamic entrepreneurial attitude supported by the Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur. Especially in the Eco-Vallée with SMBs focusing on GreenTech and in Nice with the Silver Economy Cluster. We are located not far from the airport which allows us to go anywhere in France spending only an hours in the air. We also take advantage of the help offered by companies such as Team Côte d’Azur and the Maison de la Métropole at Paris.

Europe can be best conquered through France, as military history has taught us, and our analysis was confirmed. We chose the Côte d’Azur after assessing the geopolitical, logistical and strategic benefits of this location, following a commitment to technology and innovative uses. And the quality of life in the South of France is something quite special, and this matters as does the wonderful climate.
A Brazilian group specialising in strategic and financial consultancy, JOIN established its European headquarters in Sophia Antipolis in late 2013.

Large international industrial companies (SAS, AmazonAWS, NVIDIA…) as well as specialized SMB (ebiznext) collaborate with and help lead these programs.
What support have you received from Team Côte d’Azur when you opened in the Côte d’Azur?
We chose to create our Institute in the heart of the Sophia Antipolis Science and Technology Park so that we could lean on the network of specialized laboratories such as INRIA Sophia Méditerranée and the Laboratory of Mathematics of the University of Nice at Sophia-Antipolis, and also we wanted to contribute to the development of key skills in the Science and Technology Park in this field, which is its strong suit. We have a secondary establishment in Paris that is connection with our industrial partners.
Our relationship with Team Côte d’Azur allowed us to maximize our network of partners when connecting with international companies seduced by the high level of applied mathematics computer sciences available in the area.
What is your perspective on development?
After its first pilot promotions that were offered in October 2015, DSTI has created a second “postponed” cycle for new students that will start in March 2016.
In conjunction with its teaching and training, DSTI is developing research activities in the fields of Data Science and Big Data, notably in the application of Smart Grids in relation with the Innovation Center Capenergies and other pilot projects in the area.
Finally, DSTI has invested in HD telepresence equipment so that teachers can teach at both campuses and can explore teaching online via HD telepresence in real time.
