Klikpay is a fintech startup that is transforming online payments for WordPress websites through an instant bank transfer payment solution designed to simplify online transactions.
The company, founded earlier this year, was officially launched at the end of September 2023. It offers e-commerce businesses a way to reduce their cart abandonment rates, expand their payment options with a simple and secure online payment method, all while lowering transaction costs through fixed-rate pricing.
From the consumer’s perspective, Klikpay focuses on simplicity and security, with transactions that take place in ten seconds and are fully secure. Their solution is also certified by the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR), bolstering its credibility in the sector.
Based in the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, KlikPay benefits from a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem, particularly due to its integration into the Innovation Hub and its affiliation with Nice Start(s) up and French Tech Côte d’Azur.
Interview with Thomas Requiston, Co-founder and CEO of Klikpay
Can you tell us the story of KlikPay?
Klikpay was born from a personal experience that co-founders Jonathan Amarger, Anthony Marsonetto, and myself had while living abroad. In our respective countries of expatriation—Portugal, Switzerland, and the Netherlands—instant bank transfer was the norm. We used this payment method for 100% of our purchases, appreciating its simplicity and speed.
During a stay in France, we participated in an online money pool and were struck by the complexity of the process. We had to enter our card numbers, share personal data, and wait for validation. This seemed unnecessarily complicated compared to what we were used to.
That’s when the idea of Klikpay sprouted in our minds. We began researching the legal and technical aspects and eventually founded Klikpay as an instant bank transfer payment solution.
We position ourselves in the fintech sector and have been thrilled with the market’s reception. Since our launch a few weeks ago, we have acquired our first customers who use Klikpay on their WordPress sites.
What are the strengths of your online payment solution for WordPress?
Our offering is designed to meet the diverse needs of e-commerce businesses and consumers, and it has several advantages.
For e-commerce businesses, Klikpay offers a diversification of payment methods, which can increase their revenue by reducing cart abandonment rates. The fees associated with our service are reduced and are based on a fixed-rate pricing model, rather than a commission. E-commerce businesses purchase transfer packages, making our pricing model transparent and without hidden fees.
Moreover, our solution is turnkey and easy to install. Currently, it is available for WordPress as a payment module, allowing for quick implementation without requiring advanced technical skills.
From the consumer’s side, simplicity and security are at the heart of our offering. Payment takes place in ten seconds and is fully secure. The customer is redirected to their banking app from their mobile or PC, providing an additional layer of security without having to create an account or download an app. We do not store sensitive information, reducing the risks associated with data breaches.
Additionally, Klikpay is certified by the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR). This certification attests to our service’s compliance with regulatory standards and strengthens our credibility in the sector.
Your company is based in the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis. What specific advantages does this location offer to KlikPay?
Our choice to establish ourselves in Nice is not random; it is the result of strategic and emotional consideration. Two of the three co-founders, including myself, are originally from Nice. It is a region dear to us and has a burgeoning entrepreneurial ecosystem.
We have recently joined the Innovation Hub of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, which has allowed us access to valuable resources and provided a stimulating environment for our growth. This space offers a wide range of resources to entrepreneurs, from workspaces to an acceleration program.
We are also part of Nice Start(s)up and French Tech Côte d’Azur, two initiatives that promote networking and visibility for young companies. Thanks to these innovation and entrepreneurship structures, we have participated in several events and have been able to expand our professional network, which is essential for a startup in the growth phase.
The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is also rich in entrepreneurial expertise. Numerous professionals provide invaluable advice. Their experience and guidance have been very useful to us, particularly in terms of strategic advice and direction towards potential partners. The entrepreneurial culture is very present in Nice. There is a real buzz around innovation and the development of startups. This creates a very stimulating and encouraging environment for entrepreneurs.
What are your development plans for the future?
Our ambitions are multiple and revolve around several strategic axes.
Currently, our solution is only available on WordPress. However, we are in the process of development to extend our compatibility to other e-commerce platforms This will allow us to reach a broader audience and meet the needs of various types of e-commerce businesses.
We have an ambitious goal of 1,000 customers by the end of 2024. This will require a well-defined customer acquisition strategy and increased sales force.
With these objectives in mind, we have entered a phase of fundraising, mainly to diversify our offering and to invest in marketing and advertising.
In the long term, our goal is to make Klikpay a universal, recognized, and trusted payment solution. We plan to diversify our offering to include other features that will meet the varied needs of e-commerce businesses and merchants, including a payment link and QR code solution.
