The 22nd edition of “Mars aux Musées” will take place from March 3rd to March 24th, 2023 in the museums of Nice.
The Charles Nègre Photography Museum in Nice will host the opening of the 22nd edition of “Mars aux Musées” on Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at 6pm.
Initiated by the University Côte d’Azur in partnership with the City of Nice, this original museum event has become a reference in the French cultural landscape.
Under the impetus of students from the Master’s program in Event Planning, Mediation, and Cultural Engineering at the University Côte d’Azur, the multidisciplinary program of “Mars aux Musées” offers every year more than twenty innovative cultural sequences in the museums of Nice.
The objectives of this event are to bring young audiences closer to museum institutions and the cultural offering of Nice, to open museums to the performing arts and to propose an interdisciplinary approach to creative practices. Last year, the event brought together nearly 3,300 visitors.
The theme of the 2023 edition will be “Quintessence” and will be held from March 3rd to March 24th in five emblematic Nice museums.
The Charles Nègre Photography Museum will inaugurate the festival on March 11th with a series of artistic performances, from dance to music, as well as creative workshops for makeup and tote-bag creation.
The day will end with a fashion show at 9:15 pm echoing the Lionel Kazan exhibition.
The five senses will be honored throughout the festival, with a brunch at the Museum of Fine Arts for taste on March 12th, smell at the Nice Archaeology Museum/Cimiez and the Matisse Museum on March 18th, and hearing at the Palais Lascaris on March 19th. The closing session, which will take place on March 24th at the Masséna Museum, will honor sight.
In addition to artistic performances and mediations, off-site courses, masterclasses, and thematic seminars will be offered to students and visitors.
The opening ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at 6pm in the presence of Robert Roux, Deputy Mayor in charge of Culture. Admission to the museums will be free for all during the events.
