Melexis is a global supplier of micro-electronic semiconductor solutions. Team Côte d’Azur facilitated Melexis new R&D center integration into the local ecosystem. Nicolas Simonne, Global Development and Quality Manager, explains why this investment on the Côte d’Azur is a strategic move for Melexis.
Can you tell us about your business ?
We have 10 R&D centers located across the globe in Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Philippines, Switzerland, Ukraine, USA and in France. These facilities support the company in creating advanced semiconductor technology to address the rapidly evolving automotive, industrial, medical, smart domestic appliance and building automation sectors.
Why choose the Côte d’Azur ?
We established our new R&D center in Grasse in January. After careful consideration we decided that Grasse presented us with a great opportunity to strengthen our engineering assets. We identified this as a highly conducive environment in which to place a new R&D center. As well as facilitating the recruitment of experienced technically astute staff, it will also enable us to benefit from the city’s hospitable reputation.
What support do you get from Team Côte d’Azur ?
We recognize Team Côte d’Azur as a valued partner for the creation of new business in the area. The team has a strong knowledge of the industrial zone and its players. They are moreover embedded in a solid local network and are able to act as a reliable and proactive partner.
What are the development prospects of Melexis on the Côte d’Azur ?
The core competence of the new design center in Grasse will be focusing on the automotive industry. We have a dozen engineers team here in Grasse and we wish to expand our team to a full development team thanks to the wealth of semiconductor engineering talents to be found in Sophia Antipolis technology park surrounding.
