Mission Canada: Team Nice Côte d’Azur Strengthens International Alliances and Promotes Strategic Sectors of Nice Côte d’Azur

Mission Canada

From October 16 to 25, 2024, Team Nice Côte d’Azur will be on a mission to Canada, led by Hervé LAUBERTIE, General Manager of Team Nice Côte d’Azur.

This collective mission aims to strengthen institutional collaborations with economic stakeholders such as the attractiveness agencies of Laval, Montreal, Quebec, and Halifax, the French Chamber of Commerce in Canada, as well as economic development officials from the cities visited.

Hervé LAUBERTIE, present throughout the mission, will oversee these meetings. At the same time, the team will also highlight two strategic sectors of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis: Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) and the Blue Economy.

At the Hub Montreal from October 21 to 23, Axelle XERRI, Head of Project Development, will showcase the creative ecosystem of Nice Côte d’Azur, while Stefano CIMMARUSTI, Head of Project Development, will explore potential synergies with maritime companies in Halifax, with the aim of strengthening the position of metropolitan actors engaged in sustainable innovation and the blue economy.

A Multi-Objective Economic Mission

This mission to Canada is part of the ongoing strategic initiatives led by Team Nice Côte d’Azur to enhance the international attractiveness of the metropolitan area, as highlighted by Hervé LAUBERTIE, General Manager of Team Nice Côte d’Azur, during the 2023 attractiveness review of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.

With a strong economic dynamic, illustrated by a record number of business establishments in 2023, the mission aims to consolidate these results.

It is based on a targeted prospecting strategy, seeking to attract investments in key sectors such as Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) and the Blue Economy.

The mission to Canada, which includes institutional meetings and exchanges with attractiveness agencies, reflects the ambition to position the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis as a leading European economic hub.

This proactive approach, already demonstrated in international collaborations with Tunisia, aims to strengthen synergies between local and international players while fostering innovation and sustainable economic development.

Focus on Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI)

The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has established itself as a key player in the development of Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI), creating a dynamic ecosystem conducive to innovation.

With infrastructures such as the Victorine Studios, which saw a record increase in productions in 2023, and initiatives like the “Grande Fabrique de l’Image” project, the metropolis is attracting an increasing number of international audiovisual productions, along with key educational institutions like ISART, which set up on the territory in 2023.

In parallel, Université Côte d’Azur is training the next generation of talent through innovative programs tailored to the needs of CCI, further enhancing the region’s attractiveness.

At the HUB in Montreal, Axelle Xerri will be present to promote this rapidly growing ecosystem and meet with companies in various sectors, ranging from gaming to audiovisual production. This dynamism positions the metropolis as a key hub for creators and investors in this sector.

Blue Economy: Focus on Halifax

As part of this economic mission, special emphasis will be placed on the Blue Economy, a strategic sector for the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis.

With its “Territoire d’Industrie” label for 2023-2027 and its commitment to sustainable development, the region is uniquely positioned to attract investment in this sector.

The mission to Halifax will explore synergies with local companies in the maritime sector, following the recent “Eco 360°” mission conducted in the United States and Canada, where Team Nice Côte d’Azur highlighted the region’s strengths.

The planned discussions with maritime sector leaders in Halifax aim to develop partnerships around innovative technologies, such as renewable energies and port management, areas where the metropolis already excels.

Additionally, the Metropolis is preparing to host the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 2025) in June 2025, further cementing its leadership role in the Blue Economy and sustainable innovation. This mission is fully aligned with Nice Côte d’Azur’s sustainable development strategy, leveraging its innovation ecosystem to attract international collaborations.
