Doremi Labs, the leading company in digital servers and format converters whose European headquarters are located in Sophia Antipolis, was bought by Dolby Laboratories earlier this year.
Doremi Labs is an American company, developer and manufacturer of digital servers and other products designed for cinema and professional A/V markets. The site in Sophia Antipolis, now owned by Dolby France, is home to a R&D center for software developing that benefits from a highly innovative environment in the field of IT. The company has equipped 85% of France’s movie theaters with digital servers and accounts for several breakthroughs in image technology. Doremi obtained a patent for its high-res picture technology named “4K”.
Dolby Digital is Doremi’s counterpart when it comes to sound technology. Their surround sound solution “Dolby Atmos” won two Oscars and was used in more than 200 movie productions worldwide.
By working together, Doremi and Dolby intend to revolutionize users’ experience in movie theaters.
