The city of Nice is initiating a major transformation of its public transport network with the introduction of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) on line 8, which will start operating from September 2. The project is part of a sustainable mobility approach aimed at significantly reducing the carbon footprint of public transport.
The Nice BRT: a capacity of 16,000 passengers per day
With the upcoming launch of the BRT, line 8 promises a transport capacity of 16,000 passengers per day. The service, with a frequency of every 7 minutes, aims to relieve congestion on the main roads and to offer a fast and efficient alternative to access the city center of Nice from the north of the city.
An ambitious strategy for a carbon-free city
The objective of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is to achieve a completely carbon-free transport fleet by the end of 2025. This project includes 238 vehicles, with an energy mix divided between electric vehicles (52%) and vehicles running on bio-CNG (48%).
With the inauguration of the BRT, Nice confirms its commitment to sustainability by improving the efficiency of its transport network while minimizing its environmental impact. This initiative is a concrete example of the city’s commitment to cleaner and greener urban mobility.
