Uniqlo and Monoprix have officially opened their doors at ICONIC, the new lifestyle hub with spectacular architecture developed by Compagnie de Phalsbourg in the heart of Nice. ICONIC aims to connect the Thiers train station and the city and to create a new commercial, cultural, and service dynamic for the people of Nice and international visitors.
After Five Guys and Starbucks, Uniqlo and Monoprix were inaugurated in the presence of Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, and Deputy President of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Region, and Philippe Journo, Founding President of Compagnie de Phalsbourg, the project leader.
ICONIC will open in four stages
After the opening of these first shops, the time will come for the hotel and the official inauguration of ICONIC scheduled for the end of June 2024; then in September, the schools and the gym. And during the fourth quarter, the last shops, so that 100% of ICONIC will be open by the end of the year.
ICONIC summarizes the vision and ambition of Compagnie de Phalsbourg for the renovation and re-urbanization of city centers, and in particular of train station districts, by creating “building-cities” with spectacular architecture and mixed-use, in which many activities coexist.
Indeed, ICONIC, a project entirely financed on private funds, will host eight different activities including shops, offices, a 4-star Hilton hotel, a gym, schools, offices, a pharmacy, and a performance hall, along a secure and landscaped promenade linking the Thiers train station and the Avenue Jean Médecin, allowing it to bring together very diverse audiences while creating synergies between the activities and needs of visitors.
On the occasion of this first stage of opening, Philippe Journo, Founding President of Compagnie de Phalsbourg, said:
“We are happy to concretize today a first step of reveal of ICONIC with the openings of Uniqlo and Monoprix, after Five Guys and Starbucks. With ICONIC, we wanted to offer Nice an exceptional “building-city” with world-class architecture. We thank all our partners for their trust and patience. The expectation of the people of Nice around this project confirms our idea that ICONIC will meet a strong demand and that it will be a vector of modernity, a place of life and attractiveness essential for this district of the city of Nice.”
Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, and Deputy President of the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur Region, said:
“I am proud to inaugurate today, alongside Philippe Journo, the four first shops of ICONIC and to celebrate worthily the end of the work of this magnificent building. Nice is enriched with a new monument, designed by Studio Daniel Libeskind. This architecture, inspired by the mineral forms of azurite, embodies for me the audacity of a city that experiments and dares to reinvent itself. It is in any case worthy of the vibrant metropolis that is Nice. ICONIC is also the symbol of the renewal of the Thiers train station district, a pivotal point between the north and the south of the city center. This evening is the culmination of our strategy of revitalization and commercial dynamization, begun with the renovation of the SNCF train station forecourt. For the whole district, new perspectives are opening up. With its 19,000 m², including shops, hotel spaces, offices, and even higher education establishments, ICONIC is destined to become a new heart of life for the people of Nice and our visitors.”
Focus on Uniqlo, Monoprix, Five Guys, and Starbucks
With more than 1,500 m² spread over three floors, Uniqlo unveils its flagship store in Nice and imposes itself as the commercial locomotive of Iconic with a concept dedicated to the ensemble of LifeWear universes for men, women, and children that have made the success of this world-renowned Japanese brand.
Uniqlo has chosen Iconic for its implantation in the city center of Nice, both for the quality of its architecture and for its premium location at the angle of the Avenue Jean Medecin on the prow of the building.
Already established as one of the leaders of proximity food distribution in the city center, Monoprix is inaugurating its new premium premium food concept on more than 1,000 m², in a format unique to Nice. This new flagship store will complement its existing points of sale, and its strategic location ideally situated between the train station and the tramway will contribute to the redevelopment of the street.
Five Guys is also revealing its first implantation in the city center of Nice on the occasion of this inauguration. This unavoidable American actor in quality fast food will express all its know-how for the greatest happiness of visitors on more than 350 m².
Finally, Starbucks, offering the latest furniture concept of the brand, will skillfully complete this ecosystem to allow everyone to come and taste one of the coffees or pastries unanimously appreciated.
